Summary: Another mini quilt from in 2020. There were only so many places we could walk and all but one of them took us past this neighbor. Their blue fence had a gorgeous circular gate. A row of prayer flags hung between their main house and an outbuilding. I combined the two in this very small quilt.

A small quilt which appears to show the side of a house (with white siding) and a rather basic light blue fence which comes up in a point on the left side, then has a circle effectively connecting two points on the right. A row of colorful squares is string together and hanging across it. The execution is a bit rough, experimental vs. refined

I used some scrap fabric and a bit of leftover fabric I’d gotten from someone else. The white fabric is folded to give a texture like the siding of the house. The flags are joined by a running stitch on my older machine. The fence itself is a fairly coarse applique with machine quilting used to create the pseudo-boards.

Concept sketch:

A rather pale sketch of a fence which doesn’t quite scale or reflect the orgiinal but is clearly the inspiration for it. The blue is very pale and the flags are random colors.

The original gate:

A light blue fence covered with vines. There is a gate with a large open circle at the top. It looks like a friendly opening into another world.
