A quilt done in the Mariner's compass pattern. The center compass has medium and dark blues in a couple of layers. The overall pattern is mostly medium and light blues and creams with dark blue accents.

Summary: This was my first Mariner’s Compass quilt. It is of the few quilts I’ve made straight from the pattern, “Atlantic Compass,” and the accompanying fabrics. I created this quilt for one of my aunts who has a lifelong love of the mid-Atlantic shore.

A quilt done in the Mariner’s compass pattern. The center compass has medium and dark blues in a couple of layers. The medium blue is like waves. There’s then cream background to make a square, a border of crab fabric. the same compass pattern is in additional corners with light blue backgrounds and then a border of shore birds… followed by a thin border of dark blue and a fuller one of medium blue fabric. It’s layers of blues and creams. The picture is taken outside with beautiful sunshine on it.

The center medallion. You can kind of maybe see that the cream has angled lines through it. The crab border is so dang cute.

A border of shore birds and shells. Seagulls, sandpipers, puffins… and then also shells and starfish! It’s got the same twisted border but wider.

A detailed picture of a quarter of the quilt front which shows quilting details. Compass spikes are outlined. The fill around the compass radiates from the corner toward the circle. There’s a twisting pattern through the crab and bird borders.

A light rippling water pattern covers the whole back of the quilt. You can kind of see that it’s tightly quilted but not much more detail at this level.
